*New* - LanP3 does nothing on first run
in fact it does not index files or play tracks.
Two emails came through, reporting that LanP3 did absolutely nothing after installation.
We resolved the issues, after a LanP3 restart and we are unsure what may be at the root of it.
General:
*New* - Run at Startup:
Some people are reporting than LanP3 starts up before SQL Express and it does not load properly.
Once loaded, the front tab does not contain anything at all.
Workaround: Kick the current track and/or restart LanP3.
We will look into a proper fix or resolution soon.
AutoPlay:
AutoPlay hangs when metadata cannot be read from the mp3
This is a known issue in version 2.02. There is a work around, and it will be fixed in the next version.
Workaround: Kick the current Track OR Take LanP3 Offline, followed by putting it online.
Installation:
SQL Express Fails to Install
It has been reported by a few that SQL Express, does not install properly, and thus the entire LanP3 installation fails.
We have found that these occasions have had the following missing updates:
- Windows Installer 3.1
KB 893803
- Windows XP Update
KB 898461
This is either because Automatic Windows Updates was turned off, or these particular updates were skipped.
These are one of the first sets of Updates after Windows XP Service Pack 2 is installed.
Please make sure you have these installed before you install LanP3.
Indexing:
LanP3 takes over CPU usage when Indexing
This has been resolved in version 2.01. Download the latest version from the
downloads page.
Installation and Load:
MSIExec process still running after install causes LanP3 to hang
It has been reported that after the Installation has completed, on occasions the msiexec.exe process for the installer is still running.
This can cause LanP3 is misbehave on startup, and have roll on effects while in use. (the effects are diverse)
To resolve,
- press Ctrl-Alt-Del to show your Task Manager.
- Go to processes, locate and select the msiexec.exe process
- and click "End Process".
- Restart LanP3
Installation:
Unable to satisfy all prerequisites.
If you receive a message like the image shown (right), the installer has detected that Service Pack 2, is not installed.
LanP3 requires the Windows Service Pack 2 (SP2).
Please make sure this is installed first.
Service Pack 2, greatly enhances your protection against SpyWare, malware and viruses. It should really be installed anyhow.
